1. The compact match-up

Mid-360 combines a non-repeating pattern and near-panoramic coverage in a lightweight package. OS0 is a 360° spinner with a very wide vertical field and structured grid. The former favors cost, mass and compactness; the latter spatial repeatability and richer data profiles.

2. Sourced TECHNICAL table

The French table provides 14 normalized, sourced specifications. Mid-360 uses a non-repeating hybrid scan while OS0 provides a channelized rotary grid.

3. SLAM and nearby obstacles

The Livox pattern progressively fills the scene: excellent with motion-aware algorithms, less intuitive for comparing individual frames. OS0's grid is predictable and its vertical FoV captures floors, ramps and overhangs. LiDAR–IMU calibration and deskew matter as much as the datasheet.

4. Software integration

Livox publishes either a custom message or PointCloud2; select the latter for generic stacks and Nav2. Ouster provides metadata, PCAP and configurable profiles. Check ARM64, ROS2 version, QoS, PTP, network load and connector availability for your robot.

5. Price and field trade-offs

Mid-360 is generally positioned as the lower-cost, lighter option. OS0 costs more but brings wider vertical FoV, multiple resolutions and a mature developer ecosystem. Obtain comparable quotes including cabling, support, taxes and availability; also measure power, vibration, rain and sunlight behavior.

6. Which model should you choose?

Choose Mid-360 for a cost- and weight-sensitive AMR, drone or prototype when your SLAM handles its pattern. Choose OS0 for ramps, complex vertical environments and teams wanting a repeatable grid. A simultaneously recorded route separates the sensors better than maximum-value comparisons.
